Optimization of glycerol-based medium composition for antifungal metabolites production by Bacillus subtilis

Bacillus species are promising producers of various compounds that have pronounced antimicrobial, antiviral and antitumor activities. Due to its GRAS status, subtilis represents an excellent candidate for the usage in plant pathogens biocontrol. In this research, evaluation antifungal metabolites biosynthesis by ATCC 6633 optimization glycerol-based medium composition, using response surface methodology, production effective against Neurospora crassa were investigated. The results disc-diffusion method indicate applied strain produces with activity tested fungus. order find optimal cultivation experiments carried out accordance Box-Behnken design, was performed concept desirability function combined previously defined mathematical equation, which describes examined bioprocess. model predicts maximum inhibition zone diameter 32.24 mm is achieved when initial content glycerol, NaNO2 K2HPO4 49.68 g/L, 2.90 g/L 6.49 respectively.
